Ever Have a Conversation of Grace Yourself?
A Conversation of Grace occurs whenever one of us shares the hope and peace that Jesus brings with someone who is un-churched or uncommitted to Christ.
These opportunities to share our faith place many of us outside our comfort zone – we've all been there, right?
If you have just a minute, take a look at some things which may be helpful.
Start small. Think about a few un-churched or uncommitted people
you know who you would like to share the peace that knowing Jesus brings.
They can be anyone – family, friends, neighbors, your barber/hairdresser,
store clerk, even someone at church.
Write these names on one of the ABLAZE cards found in the entrance area of our church
and keep it close by.
One great way to "practice" these conversations is by encouraging another Christian
in their faith – we all need encouragement!
Pray.
Ask the Holy Spirit for confirmation that these are the people you should be reaching out
to for a Conversation of Grace, for opportunities to share with those people,
and that they would be open to hear your witness.
Pray too that the Holy Spirit opens their heart to Jesus after you have that conversation.
Be bold – seize the opportunity.
You may be discussing some current world event that seems hopeless –
may be a time to mention from where your hope emanates.
Perhaps they remark about the cross you wear or the one they see in your pocket change
or, maybe they ask about the bright orange ABLAZE bracelet.
Try responding "Well blessed" instead of "OK" when someone asks how you are.
No need to force it, pray for the opportunity.
Listen to what they are saying. You'll know when the time is right.
Be yourself.
God chose you to talk to these people – be genuine, tell them of the hope your faith
gives you, the peace you have found in Jesus, and an example of when God's
presence has been undeniable to you.
We all have our miracles.
I don't believe in coincidences anymore – just God's plan unfolding.
Be accountable.
Get others in your circle of influence to do this with you – perhaps one of the groups
or committees at our church, small group Bible study, your family, or your friends.
Spend some time each month talking about your progress with others, share ideas,
and pray together over the names.
As you have those individual Conversations of Grace, just write the person's first name
on a slip of paper and place it in the ABLAZE box near the church entrance –
you should continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will now work within them.
God's mission is bringing people to Him through His Son Jesus Christ,
and we are most assuredly part of this mission.
We are happy to talk with you one-on-one or to your group to help you get started.
