Bikes for the World collecting used bikes at Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church

ASHBURN, VA -  May 12:  Bikes for the World will be accepting donations of used bikes at Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church on Sunday, June 8 from 1pm to 4pm.  The bikes will be shipped to underdeveloped countries to help people get to work and school.  Usable bicycle spare parts and accessories, bike books and bike tools will also be accepted.  A $10 per bike donation is also requested to defray the cost of overseas shipping.

Bikes for the World was founded in January 2005 and has donated 14,000 bicycles to ten partner agencies in eight countries, as well as to several programs serving youth and adults in the Washington DC metropolitan area.  Their central mission is to collect unwanted bicycles and related material in the United States and deliver it at low cost to community development programs assisting the poor in developing countries or in the Washington DC metropolitan area.   For more information, go to www.bikesfortheworld.org

Our Savior's Way, along with the Open Arms Christian Child Development Center, has provided a caring atmosphere for the children of families in the Ashburn area for almost 10 years.  Open Arms is open to children from 6 weeks to 12 years old and offers preschool, day care, before/after school care, and summer camp.  They are located at the intersection of Waxpool Road and Claiborne Parkway (1 mile south of Exit 5 of the Greenway) and are currently expanding their facility to provide room for additional preschool, child care and community services.
