May 31 Lesson - God Created Heaven and Earth

When the apostle Paul taught in the town of Athens, he saw a sign on a temple that said “To an unknown god.” Paul taught the people about the one and only true God so they’d know our real God!

Scripture: Paul teaches in AthensActs 17:16-31

Supplies

  • Bible
  • Paper
  • Markers
  • Tape

Paul taught the people of Athens that God is the creator of everything in the world. Paul wanted them to know that the God who created everything also sent Jesus to earth. Jesus died and then came back to life so that if they believed in Jesus, they could live forever with God in heaven.

May 24 Lesson - God Hears our Prayers

The Sermon on the Mount is Jesus' most famous sermon! It’s called the Sermon on the Mount because he stood up on a hill—or mountain—to preach. Today we’re learning that Jesus preached about how God hears our prayers. Prayer is just talking with God!

Scripture: The Sermon on the MountMatthew 7:7-11

Supplies:

  • Bible
  • snacks

God knows what we need, and we can trust him to hear our prayers and respond with what we need. Jesus said to ask, seek, and knock.

God hears our prayers. He hears every single one! And when we ask for things that are good for us, sometimes he says “yes.” But sometimes we ask for things that aren’t good for us. When that happens, we can still trust God—not to give us what we want, but to give us what we need. God always knows what’s best for us!

Memory Verse Monday from 20 verses in 2020 is Revelation 1:8 The Alpha and the Omega:

May 17 Lesson - It’s good to worship God with others!

Right now we cannot physically gather for worship, so now we join in online worship and look forward to the time that we can gather in person. We thank God that He is with us always and in all circumstances.

Scripture: The Ark of the Covenant1 Chronicles 16:1-36

Supplies:

  • Bible
  • Pair of rolled up socks-1 per person
  • Shoe box or other small box
  • markers, paper, scissors, tape
  • Slips of paper and pencils or pens

The Ark of the Covenant contained reminders of God's presence with the people of Israel after they left Egypt. Over many years their blessings from being there during the famine, had turned to suffering and hard labor. No longer perfect as created by God, the world is a sinful place and this brings the pains we endure. God does not cause the suffering, but He may allow it. The wonderful news is that He is always there with us. We are never alone, but in His hands in all circumstances. The Ark of the Covenant reminded the Israelites of His presence, and the importance of worship. It's good to worship God with others so we gather for online worship, we gather with our families, or as small groups, knowing that what is most important is that we do worship God our Father, and thank Him for our blessings, especially the salvation we have in Jesus.
